440 - Homework 13 (Watershed Area)
1.
Define the watershed and determine the drainage
area (in acres, square miles, and hectares) of the point marked with an
"x" on the USGS map (1:24,000 scale or 1"=2000'; contour
interval = 6m) handed out class.
Determine the approximate slope of the above drainage channel
Will do in class; do not turn in for homework.
2.
Think of a drainage structure underneath a
road (near your home or work, etc). Download the appropriate USGS map, capture an
image of the watershed, print it, delineate the watershed area and determine
the area. Do the delineation on your own
and then use streamstats for comparison and
verification; print streamstats data.
Complete #2 for Homework.
