Hydrostatic
Force:
Hydrostatic Force Problem #1------A 9m X 9m vertical gate is completed submerged 3m below the water surface (the top of gate is 3m below the water surface) . Determine the resultant force (both magnitude and location) using both methods (average pressure and inclined plane).
Hydrostatic Force Problem #2-----

Note: the 3m and 4m measurements are x- and y- measurements from the bottom of gate to the top of the gate (hinge).
Buoyancy:
A submerged spherical steel buoy that is 1.2m in diameter and weighs 1600 N is to be anchored in salt water 20m below the surface. Find the weight of scrap iron (in kN and pounds) that should be sealed inside the buoy in order that the force on its anchor will not exceed 4.5 kN. Salt water has a specific weight of 10.07 kN/cubic meter.
