Students in the Collision Repair Program fix a variety of vehicles throughout the school year. Below is a sampling of student work |

1971 Corvette
This vehicle was disassembled and all of the previous coatings were removed. The areas where the panels are bonded to the body were repaired with polyester filler and the customer requested that the color of the vehicle be changed from gold to red. All areas were primed several times with an acrylic urethane primer. In between each priming the surface was block sanded to correct any waves or imperfections that existed in the original surface. The vehicle was then top coated with a single stage urethane finish. After the finish had been cured, the paint was then water sanded with 1500 grit and buffed with compound and polish. All areas were then cleaned and then reassembled. |

1982 Firebird
The original hard top roof was removed and replaced with T-tops. The pillar posts and sail panel areas were sleeved to maintain structural integrity. All areas were given an application of weld-through primer to protect against corrosion prior to welding. Seams were ground and finished off with fiberglass and polyester fillers. The areas were then primed and painted. The quarter panels were blended and buffed. The weather stripping, glass and hatch were reinstalled. This procedure improved the look of this car immensely.

1978 Mercedes 450SL
This vehicle had collision damage to the right fender and door. The pillar post needed to be repaired on the frame machine and the parts were replaced. There was collision damage and rust on the right quarter and metal needed to be fabricated and welded in. The entire vehicle was stripped and primed with a wash primer, epoxy and urethane primer to protect the surface. |

1948 Jeepster
This vehicle was brought in a piece at a time on the back of a pickup truck. Floor pans were welded in and an enormous amount of bodywork and fitting went into this project. The four-cylinder engine was installed by General Auto Service and Auto Tech Class at BOCES. The vehicle was painted yellow and black and returned to the customer for reassembly. Most parts on the vehicle were painted separately and then assembled. |
